Say Hello to Dila!
Since 2009, Carpenters4Cambodia have used the services of Dila Tep and his tuk tuk to get around Phnom Penh. Dila quickly proved himself to be very honest, trustworthy and hardworking. He is always looking out for us making sure we aren't getting ripped off and that we and our equipment are always safe.
For his benefit and ours, Carpenters4Cambodia funds English lessons for Dila. C4C also funds his son Thanu going to Beltei School and daughter Nimol at Sovannaphumi school in both Khmer and English. Although Dila has moved his family to the big city so his kids can get a better education he hasn't forgotten the children back home in his village, Speue. C4C would like to build an English school building on land donated by Dila that will be staffed by local university graduates volunteering their time to teach English. The children already attend public Khmer school but receive no English lessons. Dila has learned first hand what a difference knowing English can make so he wants to give them the same opportunity he has provided for his children.
We at Carpenters4Cambodia think that is a great idea!
To that end we are having a fundraising raffle draw. Through the generosity of WestJet we are raffling off 2 return flights any regular scheduled flight from WestJet. Tickets are $20 and there are only 200 of them printed.
The draw will be held on February 19, 2015 at the Airdrie Public Library. We will be screening the award winning documentary Compassionate Compass: Cambodia, produced by Talking Light Media, that features Carpenters4Cambodia, Place of Rescue and Charlotte Seehawer's story of adopting a Cambodian special needs orphan. So if you can come on out to watch a great documentary, learn about some amazing people and help raise some money for Dila's School.
